Flapper Pressure Test Valve

Full-bore valve for repeated pressure testing of the work string while tripping in

Description

The FLAPPER pressure test valve is a full-bore tool used in cased wells. While the string is tripped in, it allows the working string to be pressure tested repeatedly.

Features

  • Shear pin keeps the flapper closed while tripping in
  • Locking structure holds the flapper in the open position once it has opened

Operation

The tool is operated only by the differential pressure between the annulus and the string. After the packer is set and the string is isolated from the annulus, annulus pressure shears the pin and the flapper opens, leaving the tool in the full-bore condition.
