Gas Tubing & Casing Thread Packer
Helium-leak inspection tool for gas-tight tubing and casing connections
Description
A gas-tight thread inspection tool, usually used in gas wells to test the sealing of tubing and casing thread connections and ensure that the whole string meets its sealing requirement.
Features
- Rubber element sealing units give high gas sealing pressure and reliable sealing
- Operated by pump pressure — convenient and efficient
- One tool can test several threads in succession at low cost
Operation
Connect a nitrogen pump to the pressure port at the top of the tool and lift the tool into the tubing under test, positioning the upper and lower rubber elements on either side of the thread. Pump a helium-nitrogen gas mixture: the elements are compressed to plug both ends of the thread and the mixture flows into the thread area. Continue pumping to the required test pressure and check the thread seal with a helium leak detector. After testing, release the pump pressure; the elements retract and the tool is lifted out for the next thread.
