Select Test Valve
Multi-cycle test valve with switchable standard and locked-open modes
Description
The select test valve is a full-opening, annulus pressure-operated valve that can close and open many times. The ball valve can be locked in the open position at any time during testing, and the tool can be switched between standard mode and locked-open mode.
Features
- Consists of four parts: ball valve, upper hydraulic section, nitrogen power section and oil chamber metering section
- Standard or locked mode is selected with the power case and selector used together
- Spring fingers prevent the valve from actuating early due to fluid fluctuations
- Power builds up in the nitrogen mechanism when pressure is applied and is released when pressure is bled off, so the valve actuates reliably
- Time delay of the oil chamber metering mechanism in applying and releasing nitrogen pressure ensures reliable opening and closing
- Time delay of the metering case can be chosen according to well depth
Operation
Standard mode: apply operating pressure to open the valve; release it to close.
Lock mode: apply operating pressure to open the valve and release it — the valve stays open; reapply operating pressure and release it to close.
