Gauge Carrier
Carrier for downhole pressure and temperature gauges, designed to suit the gauge
Description
The gauge carrier is used to carry gauges. By function, there are carriers that respond to annulus pressure (external pressure) and carriers that respond to tubing pressure (internal pressure). The gauge carrier is usually installed above the packer, which avoids a major loss if the packer becomes stuck and the gauges cannot be pulled out.
The carrier is designed according to the gauges it carries. By structure, there are externally and internally mounted carriers. Depending on gauge OD and carrier ID, it can be designed as a non-eccentric, internal eccentric, external eccentric or internal-external type.
For shock protection, spring damping, rubber damping and other structures are available. The connection between gauge and carrier is designed according to the gauge model; a threaded connection is common.
