Gauge Carrier

Carrier for downhole gauges with shock damping

Back to auxiliary tools

Description

The gauge carrier is used to carry gauges. By the pressure it responds to, there are carriers that measure tubing (internal) pressure and carriers that measure annulus (external) pressure; by mounting, there are externally and internally mounted carriers.

Carrier size depends on gauge size and quantity. It can be designed with a concentric OD and ID, or as an internal eccentric, external eccentric or internal-external structure, usually according to the gauge.

To protect the gauges from shock damage, the carrier contains a damping device, usually of the spring or rubber type.
