Radial & Vertical Shock Absorbers

Protect gauges and the string from TCP gun shock loads

Back to auxiliary tools

Radial shock absorber

Protects pressure-measuring equipment and other sensitive components in the work string from shock loads transmitted through the string when TCP guns are fired.

Vertical shock absorber

Weakens the vibration and shock caused by perforating to protect the whole string; for example, a strong shock could break the gauge carrier and unset the packer.

Two types of shock-absorbing unit are available, rubber and spring. Both absorb the perforating impact through deformation of the absorber unit.
