Sieve Tube & Grooved Tail Pipe
Filtered flow entry for formation fluid into the test string
Description
The sieve tube and grooved tail pipe are the flow channels for formation fluid entering the tester and tool string. The small holes in the sieve tube and the grooves in the tail pipe prevent mud cake, rock debris and other small particles from entering and plugging the string.
In open-hole tests, the heavy sieve tube connected below the open-hole packer also supports the packer.
