Safety Seal

Hydraulic hold-down that keeps the open-hole packer sealed while the tester is cycled

Back to packers

Description

The safety seal is used with the open-hole packer and is connected above it. After the open-hole packer is set by the downward force of the tool string, the safety seal maintains sealing while the test valve is opened and closed, by applying a locking force to the packer element through a hydraulic safety device. When the test is finished, opening the bypass valve equalizes the pressure above and below the packer and deactivates the safety seal.
